      Yes, you can buy QuickBooks SImpleStart 2012 product and renew your subscription. After doing so, you will have to import information into the 2012 edition.

      No, I am sorry, for you will not be able to access Windows biased software on a Mac computer. In order to use the QuickBooks Online SimpleStart for Mac please purchase the Staples item number 369794, which is the Mac download for a Mac computer.

      No, usually software companies give you a per-seat license and they usually won't let you download to a second computer. If you download this to a Windows computer at work you will probably have to pay for a Mac license at home.

    Does this product download or is it an application that runs elsewhere and I am just subscribing to it? Is the data stored on my PC or in the cloud?

      It downloads the license and installs an icon to the ONLINE program. You have to go online to access your information (to enter, modify, run reports, etc.) You can export your information into excel or other formats but is very limited. It is very basic, but gives you the option to upgrade to the more full feature versions at any time. I use the Enterprise at work but this basic version is ok for my sister-in-laws daycare expenses.

      Note: Quickbooks will not credit you if you choose the wrong version. I found this out when I purchased this looking for a desktop version for my sister-in-law. Since she only has dial-up the online version is not a good option for her. It functions well, was fairly easy to setup and I am not having any issues with it so far (althought I would have liked my sister-in-law to be able to enter her own daycare expenses herself).
